As I view the cataclysmic world events of today and how society lurches towards Perdition, I am reminded of the august words of playwright George Bernard Shaw who, quoting Alphonse Karr, said, "The more things change, the more things stay the same."

The year 2008 was politically the most exciting and unusual in a generation. It hosted a long, divisive and drama filled campaign season that featured the rapid rise and fall of Rudy Guiliani, Fred Thompson and Mike Huckabee, the unlikely rise of John McCain and Barack Obama, and the eventual bitter defeat of Hillary Clinton.

By now you are probably aware that there have been a multitude of lawsuits filed in regards to the question of whether or not President-elect Barack Obama is in fact eligible under the “natural born” provision of the Constitution of the United States of America to be the President of the United States.

Obama announces his starting line-up and the Russians announce they are going to upgrade their missiles. Why, don’t they know everything has changed? Don’t they understand that when Obama speaks the winds still and the seas calm and there is peace everywhere? Don’t they get it?

At a time when these young people are defending our country and its free institutions, the least we at home can do is to make sure that they are able to enjoy the rights they are being asked to fight to preserve.
